French onion soup

Instructions
- Heat the butter in a pot and sauté the onions until they become caramelized. Add the garlic and flour.
- Mix well and then add the white wine, stirring constantly. Pour in the broth, add parsley (if desired), and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Let the soup come to a boil and thicken. Optionally, you can add a tablespoon of sherry for extra flavor.
- Prepare the bread topping by toasting the baguette slices on both sides.
- Sprinkle each slice with grated Gruyere cheese.
- Distribute the soup into bowls, place the slices of bread on top, and then place each bowl in an oven to melt the cheese.
- Serve hot.
